Help Students Read Critically and Think Creatively

These high-level questions and challenging analytical reading activities will improve perceptions and boost comprehension skills. Student Activity PDF pages are viewable and printable and consist of three sections:

1.     Vocabulary in which students define, by using context clues, high utility words related to the central meaning of the book.

2.     Comprehension section which helps students explore the intricacies of plot.

3.     Patterns in which students complete Venn diagrams. These diagrams provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate an understanding of sequence, character traits, contrasting story elements, and cause/effect relationships.

Activities progress sequentially across various levels of difficulty depending on reading level. As the reading level increases, the ratio of inferential to literal comprehension questions increases.

Each title group typically consists of two pages of critical thinking and creative thought activities, 2 pages of answer keys and comprehensive Teacher's Guide.
